10 years of OutOfOffice – a special milestone!

Hard to believe, but true: OutOfOffice is already 10 years old! What once began as a bold idea by Georg Sauter, Chiara Oliva and Alexander Burger in the heart of Munich has developed into a unique space concept and a brand that now inspires people far beyond the city limits.

Ten years full of creativity, encounters and unforgettable moments – together with our customers, partners and employees. Time has flown by, and we have not only created spaces, but also relationships that we can look back on with pride. For us, this anniversary is much more than just a date: it is an occasion to pause, look back – and above all, say thank you.

Our story – From an idea to a space for new perspectives

It all began in 2015 – with a vision and a firm belief that meetings, workshops and events could be more than flipcharts, neon lights and sterile conference rooms. Together, Georg Sauter, Chiara Oliva and Alexander Burger founded OutOfOffice in Munich – and opened our first location in Maxvorstadt: a space that enabled new perspectives, gave ideas room to grow and brought a breath of fresh air to the business world.

Just one year later, we ventured to Frankfurt. Our second location, OutOfOffice Sachsenhausen, was established in Sachsenhausen – a creative garage with rustic and industrial furnishings, inspired by the urban charm of the Werksviertel district. In 2017, it was awarded the prestigious iF Design Award – confirmation of our special commitment to design and atmosphere.

In the same year, we expanded our Munich portfolio: with the artist's studio in the Glockenbach district, colour, imagination and creative lightness moved into our premises. In our OutOfOffice Glockenbach district, a creative studio atmosphere meets urban rooftop flair. The next milestone followed in 2018: expansion to Stuttgart. There, we designed a creative event location in the center of Stuttgart that can be divided into two locations, combining the best of both worlds – a creative studio area and an impressive stage area. With seven different themed worlds, our location is a place that makes a change of scenery a method.

In 2019, we expanded our Munich portfolio with a third location: OutOfOffice Eisbach, right next to the English Garden – with a view of the famous Eisbach wave. Dressed entirely in blue, with surfboards and an open-plan concept, our ‘creative space with a surfer soul’ quickly became a real highlight for anyone who appreciates urban serenity and an inspiring atmosphere.

Then came a bittersweet moment in 2020: we had to say goodbye to our very first location in Maxvorstadt because the lease had expired. It was an emotional farewell – but also a sign that change creates space for new things.

And that's exactly what happened: in the same year, we opened our second event location in Frankfurt's Westend district – a green, tropical-inspired oasis in the middle of the city, characterised by the nearby Palmengarten. Even though the following months were marked by Corona, event restrictions and uncertainty, we look back with pride: we persevered together – flexible, resilient and with a firm belief in the power of genuine encounters.

What began as a small idea is now a vibrant network of places where people come together, think creatively, act courageously and discover new perspectives. We are full of motivation and drive to continue revolutionising the world of meetings, workshops and events – and to create even more places for creativity, humanity and collaboration.

Milestones & achievements – What makes us special

We have achieved a great deal over the last ten years – both on a small and large scale. Some successes can be measured, others can be felt in the moment when a space suddenly becomes a catalyst for new ideas. Here are some of the milestones we are particularly proud of:

iF DESIGN AWARD 2017 for the OutOfOffice Sachsenhausen room concept

One highlight was winning the prestigious iF DESIGN AWARD 2017 in the interior design category for our location in Frankfurt Sachsenhausen. Our creative garage in the heart of urban Sachsenhausen impressed the 60-strong international jury with its distinctive atmosphere, flexibility and unconventionality. For over 60 years, the iF DESIGN AWARD has been regarded as the international benchmark for outstanding design – so we are all the more proud that our concept for spaces with character and soul has been recognised there.

6 locations – 6 unique spaces

Another milestone is our ever-growing network of locations with unique design concepts: in just ten years, we have opened six OutOfOffice locations in Munich, Frankfurt and Stuttgart – each one shaped by the culture, aesthetics and atmosphere of its neighbourhood. Anyone who experiences a meeting, workshop or event with us can feel it: this is not just a space – it's a place where you can experience the city. Whether with a view of the Eisbach wave, over the rooftops of Stuttgart or in the midst of Frankfurt's city life – each location tells its own unique story.

Sustainability – a matter close to our hearts

For us, sustainability is not a trend, but a responsibility. In 2021, we became one of the first companies in our industry to become climate neutral – thanks to our collaboration with ClimatePartner and targeted investments in global climate protection projects.

But we wanted to do more: since 2025, we have been offsetting our unavoidable carbon footprint through our own project – in the place where our hearts and origins meet: the Salento region (Italy), the home of our co-founder Chiara Oliva.

There, where a bacterium has destroyed over 21 million olive trees since 2019, we are planting new trees together with the non-profit organisation OlivaMi – and allowing the landscape, culture and future of the region to flourish once again. A project close to our hearts that shows that sustainability is local, tangible – and can be shaped collectively.

Celebrations & outlook – 10 years and still going strong

On 18 July, the time had come: we celebrated our 10th anniversary in Frankfurt with over 80 guests – customers, partners, friends and companions. Together, we looked back on 6 locations in 3 cities, where we have hosted over 4,300 events and welcomed more than 100,000 guests to date. Each of these encounters, each event, each meeting has brought us a step further – inspiring, challenging and touching us and, above all, motivating us to continue on our path.

The atmosphere at our 10th anniversary celebration was exuberant and the sunset backdrop behind the skyline was spectacular. It was an evening full of wonderful encounters, inspiring conversations and a genuine summer atmosphere.
